Bhakti Yoga DC 200-Hour Teacher Training Agreement
This Agreement outlines the terms and shared responsibilities of participants (“Student”) in Bhakti Yoga DC’s 200-Hour Teacher Training (“Program”). By registering and signing this Agreement, the Student agrees to the following:
1. Tuition and Payment
Standard tuition is:
$3,300 when paid in full
$3,600 with an installment plan
Any Early Bird or promotional tuition will be reflected at the time of registration.
Payment in full reserves the Student’s place in the Program. Students choosing an installment plan must make an initial $500 deposit, which is applied toward total tuition, and complete the remaining payments according to the schedule selected at registration.
All tuition must be paid in full before certification will be issued.
2. Cancellations, Refunds and Deferrals
15 days or more before the first training weekend: All payments are refundable.
14 days or fewer before the first training weekend: A $500 cancellation fee applies. For installment-plan students, the deposit will be retained. For students who paid in full, $500 will be deducted from the refund.
Once training begins: Tuition is nonrefundable. Students using an installment plan remain responsible for the outstanding balance.
Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing.
Deferral requests are considered individually. If approved, tuition paid may be applied to a future BYDC Teacher Training. Approval is not guaranteed and may depend on space, timing, and program availability.
If Bhakti Yoga DC cancels the Program, students will receive a refund of tuition paid. If a training session must be rescheduled, BYDC will provide as much notice as reasonably possible and arrange an alternate date or completion option.
3. Studio Class Access
From January through May 2027, students may attend up to eight (8) regular BYDC studio classes per calendar month at no additional cost.
Included classes:
Must be used within the applicable calendar month
Do not roll over or accumulate
Are nontransferable and may be used only by the enrolled Student
Are subject to BYDC’s standard reservation and cancellation policies
Apply only to regularly scheduled studio classes and do not include workshops, special events, series, private sessions, or other separately priced offerings
Students who wish to attend more than eight classes in a calendar month may purchase additional regular studio classes for $15 each.
Class access is a benefit of active enrollment and has no cash or refund value. It ends if the Student withdraws from, is dismissed from, or the Program is canceled.
4. Attendance and Completion Requirements
Students are expected to attend all scheduled training sessions on time and participate fully.
To complete the Program, students must:
Complete all required training hours
Submit all written assignments and reflections
Complete required class observations and teaching practice
Participate in the final practicum and assessment
Demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge, teaching competency, participation, and professionalism
Be in good financial standing
Students should notify BYDC as soon as possible if they expect to miss any portion of the training. Missed hours must be completed through approved make-up work or additional assignments determined by the Program Director.
Unless otherwise approved in writing, all outstanding requirements must be completed within three months of the final training weekend.
5. Certification
Enrollment alone does not guarantee certification.
Upon successful completion of all Program, attendance, assessment, and financial requirements, graduates will receive an American Yoga Council Level 1 (200-Hour) Teacher Certification.
Certification does not guarantee employment or teaching opportunities at Bhakti Yoga DC or elsewhere, nor does it guarantee registration with any other professional organization.
6. Training Materials
Training manuals, handouts, recordings, and other written or digital materials provided by Bhakti Yoga DC are the intellectual property of BYDC or the applicable instructor.
These materials are provided for the Student’s personal study and teaching development. They may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, sold, published, or shared publicly without prior written permission.
Students may not record training sessions or other participants without permission.
7. Community Conduct
Teacher training requires a respectful and supportive learning environment. Students agree to:
Treat fellow students, instructors, staff, and guests with respect
Maintain appropriate confidentiality when others share personal experiences
Participate without disruptive, discriminatory, threatening, or unsafe behavior
Respect personal boundaries and follow instructor guidance
Refrain from attending while impaired by alcohol or non-prescribed substances
If a concern arises, BYDC will generally communicate with the Student and allow an opportunity to address the issue when appropriate.
Bhakti Yoga DC may dismiss a Student for serious or repeated behavior that is unsafe, disruptive, discriminatory, or inconsistent with the learning environment. Any financial responsibility or refund following dismissal will be determined under the cancellation policy above, taking into account the circumstances and training already provided.
8. Health, Personal Responsibility and Assumption of Risk
Teacher training includes physical movement, yoga postures, breath practices, meditation, partner exercises, hands-on learning, and personal reflection. These activities carry inherent physical and emotional risks.
Students are responsible for practicing within their abilities, communicating injuries or relevant limitations, and choosing whether to participate in any particular activity. Students may decline hands-on assists or request an alternative when reasonably available.
Bhakti Yoga DC and its instructors do not provide medical care, mental-health treatment, or therapy through this Program. Students are encouraged to consult an appropriate professional when needed.
By signing this Agreement, the Student voluntarily accepts the ordinary risks associated with participation and agrees not to hold Bhakti Yoga DC, its instructors, staff, or representatives responsible for injuries or losses arising from those inherent risks, except where caused by gross negligence or intentional misconduct.
9. Program Adjustments
Bhakti Yoga DC may make reasonable changes to instructors, session content, location, format, or schedule when circumstances require. Any changes will preserve the overall educational purpose and certification requirements of the Program, and students will receive as much advance notice as reasonably possible.
10. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the District of Columbia.
